Seven Hills Adrikos distillers from Arua town had to close down sometime back after consistent power cuts increased its operational costs.
Many businesses in the West Nile sub-region had ensured a similar fate, with constant power cuts as the order of the day. But that was before Nyagak power dam was switched on last year. Nyagak has changed things. At least 2,500 new customers in West Nile will now be connected to the electricity grid, according to John Kinungi, the distribution manager of West Nile Rural Electrification Company (WENRECo).
