Although, the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has lifted the suspension order on the Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, the PDP in Sokoto remains sharply divided, writes Mohammed Aminu

Reprieve, two weeks ago, came the way of Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, following the lifting of the suspension order slammed on him by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for alleged-anti-party activities and insubordination. The governor had been at loggerheads with the national leadership of the party in the months preceding his suspension for allegedly refusing to pander to the wishes of some party leaders working for the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015. Things are no longer at ease in the ruling PDP, as many members of the party, especially in the North, have become disenchanted with the way the national leadership has been piloting the party's affairs, without recourse to due process, equity and justice. The battle between Wamakko and the party was fast eroding people's confidence in the PDP national leadership, especially party members in the North-west where it is believed that Tukur's performance has left much to be desired.
