Djibouti City: Djibouti journalist jailed second time round for defying court orders.

Former opposition journalist Daher Ahmed Farah was re-incarcerated in Djibouti's Gabode prison Tuesday (July 2nd) to serve a two-month sentence for "refusing to comply with a judicial order", Reporters Without Borders (RSF) announced.

After reporting to the authorities in response to a summons, Farah was immediately imprisoned, without being taken before a judge or prosecutor. This is the second time he has been jailed in the past two months.

Farah received the two-month jail sentence from a Djiboutian appeals court June 26th, overriding an earlier Supreme Court decision quashing his July 2003 conviction for an alleged media offence.

"The arbitrary nature of the judicial proceedings in the Farah affair is unjust and unacceptable," RSF said, calling for his release. "These developments contradict the start of a dialogue with the opposition that President Ismail Omar Guelleh announced on June 27th."
