Liberia: Senators Want CBL Void of Politics

Gbarpolu County Senator Armah Z. Jallah has disclosed that he and Senators Feerick Cherue of River Gee and Alphonso Gaye of Grand Gedeh Counties are proffering a bill to ban all governors of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) from participating in politics-with emphasis on top national elected positions.

Lecturing members of Grand Cape Mount Intellectual Forum (CMIF) in Robertsport on July 5, 2013, Senator Jallah stated that the piece of legislation, when passed into law, shall also stop immediate CBL Governors emeritus from contesting national elections for a minimum of six years. He said this legislation is being proffer through an amendment of the Act that created the Bank.
