Kenya: Appeals Judges Fault High Court Ruling On Electoral Boundaries

THE High Court has no powers of redrawing or creating electoral boundaries, the Court of Appeal has ruled. The five judges faulted last year's decision by the High Court in case challenging the creation of 80 new constituencies and 1,450 county assemblies.

The Appellate court ruled that the powers of the bench appointed to hear the cases on the delimitation of boundaries was restricted to correcting errors and omissions by the IEBC, not to quash the gazette notice which created the new electoral areas.
