Liberia: Senate Passes Sports Academy Bill

The Liberian Senate Tuesday passed a bill, seeking to establish a sports academy in the country. The bill was submitted by Representative Ballah Zayzay of Margibi County for the development of young talents in the area of sports. The Chair of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator J. Jonathan Banney said the academy will help to get children of the streets.

Meanwhile, the President of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia Fombah Kanneh has welcomed the enactment of the sports academy bill into law, noting this has put Liberia on par with other countries in the area of sports. He called on the chief patron of sports President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf to construct a modern sport academy to develop young talents across the country.
