Angola: Literature Considered Standard Model of Civility

Luanda — The Angolan writers considered on Wednesday in Luanda the literature to be the standard modelo f civility, aiming for a personal, moral and civic training.

The writers said so during a roundtable that took place at Pepetela auditorium.

The meeting was held by the Angolan Writers Association (UEA), under the topic "Literature brought into question", in partnership with Camões Institute-Portuguese Cultural Centre.

The event was run by the UEA secretary for external relations UEA and Portuguese expert in literature José Cardoso.

During the meeting, the participants highlighted the importance that literature has in countries like Portugal and Angola, and according to the Portuguese expert, the literature in Angola is very important because it serves as an agent of aggregation.

According to José Cardoso, the knowledge provided by literature cannot be provided by any other área of knowledge.

The writers also defended the need of reinforcing the distribution of literary works in the country.
