Liberia: Muslims Begin Ramadan

Muslims the world over began a month of fasting and prayer on Wednesday after observing the lunar month Tuesday evening. The Grand Mufti of Liberia, Sheikh Sumaworo said that Muslims in Liberia are to use this year's Ramadan observance to pray to Allah for the country.

Sheikh Sumaworo said further that during this year's celebration Muslims across the country are to offer prayers for peace, development and tranquility. He added that Muslims should make peace and reconciliation the priority in their everyday lives.

During the one month fast and prayer observance, Muslims the world over should abstain from eating and drinking. Daytime arguing, gossiping, cursing, and committing sins of all types are prohibited during the Ramadan period.

Ramadan is also known as the month of reflection, self discipline, and complete submission to Allah for change and of course peace in the world.
