Ethiopia: Dessie Dalke Appointed As Chief of South Ethiopia State

The South Ethiopia Nations Nationalities and Peoples State Council on Saturday appointed Dessie Dalke as Chief of the State. The Council in its 7th regular session, appointed Dessie to replace Shiferaw Shigute who was appointed Minister of Education last week.

Addressing the Council, Dessie said he would work for equitable benefit and participation of the South Ethiopian Nations Nationalities and Peoples. Ongoing efforts to strengthen development and good governance would be reinforced, he said.

Dessie has been working at various positions in public office from woreda to federal levels. He had been working as Minister of Science and Technology Commission before taking his current office as Chief of the South Ethiopian Nations Nationalities and Peoples State.

Former Chief of South Ethiopian Nations Nationalities and Peoples State Shiferaw Shigute was recognized by members of the Council for his commitment while in office as Chief of State.
