Tanzania: One Survives Death After Petrol Explosion

A resident of Galapo Village in Babati District, Safari Tlatlaa (34) has barely survived death after he suffering burns in various parts of his body. The fire was caused by a gasoline explosion while he was buying the fuel for his motorcycle near a burning charcoal iron box.

The Manyara Regional Police Commander, Mr. Akili Mpwapwa said the incident occurred at 12:00 noon on July 5 this year in Bashnet Village, Babati District.

Mr. Mpwapwa said Tlatlaa was burned by the gasoline fire flame while he was buying the fuel for his motorcycle from an alleged illegal fuel vendor, Boay Bura, in a house belonging to Pius Matle.

The victim was taken to Bashnet Health Centre (BUMA). He warned those selling gasoline in their residential houses to avoid the illegal practice or else they can easily be reduced to ashes.
