In the wake of mounting reports of police's involvement in massive bribery, corruption and misconduct, Inspector General of the Liberia National Police (LNP) has raised the red flag, saying that he is completely tired of the bad attitudes of his men.
Col. Chris Clarence Massaquoi told officers of the LNP that enough is enough and even vowed to dismiss any officer or group police officers who will be caught in the act of misconduct and corruption web and also said those would-be corrupt officers will be dismissed without receiving just benefits including salaries.
"Any report in terms of misconduct on your part I will fire you before the conduct any investigation. I am tired, I am tired so I hope you put this at the back of your head," Col. Massaquoi stressed.
"If you think you are graduating today to take advantage of the Liberian people to continue to complain for misconduct at your hands, then you miss it; I will dismiss you," he said.
He said serving in the Liberia National Police force is a service to the country and its people and not a job to get riches.
The LNP boss noted that he has observed over the years that some officers of the LNP joined the force not to protect the lives and properties of the Liberian people rather to enrich themselves through corruption and bribery.
He made the statement on July 13, 2013 at program marking the graduation exercise of 'Class seven' of the Police Support Unit (PSU) of the Liberia National Police and during said ceremony which was held at the National Police Training Academy one hundred and twenty-eight PSU officers received certificates.
Speaking further, the Liberia National Police boss in very serious mood vowed to recommend the dismissal of Deputy Police Director for Administration Col. Rose Stryker and Deputy Director for Operations Abraham Kromah to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf if they fail to their jobs.
"I will recommend to the President that my deputies are not capable of supervision, are not capable of monitoring and we will get rid of them and find the right people to put in the right place to do the right job," he said.
The Police Director pointed out that he will not have incapable deputies continue bringing embarrassment to him.
