A 44-year-old Lebanese national identified as Anthony Kassabli who is believed to be the Manager of Moulin Rouji Bar and Restaurant on Center Street has been arrested by the Liberia National Police. He was arrested along with two victims on Friday in Monrovia.
Suspect Kassabli was arrested in connection with Human Trafficking, Migrant Smuggling, Simple Assault, and Felonious Restraint.
Police investigation with two of the victims, established that additional four victims were in closed door at suspect Kassabli's residence in St. Paul Bridge.
Police records revealed that the victims include six females, five of which are Moroccans and one Tunisian.
The father of suspect Kassabli, Edmund Dib Kassabli, 81 is also undergoing police probe at the Women and Children Protection Section of the Liberia National Police.
During the police investigation, a search was conducted at the Caroline Fishing Center at Sayon Town, Bushrod Island in Monrovia where several items were discovered and seized.
Some of the items discovered include: computer accessories, cameras, cell phones, passports, traveling documents, arms and ammunition.
One of the victims, Najated Mandani, narrated that she arrived in Liberia on February 6, 2013 and was taken to the residence of suspect Edmund Kassabli who reportedly purchased her air ticket from Morocco to Liberia.
Najated explained that she spent one month with Habba Kou Fawaz and during that period, she was working with Edmund Kassabli at the Bar and Restaurant on Center Street in Monrovia.
According to Najateh, Habba Kou Fawaz had good intentions but when Edmund Kassabli brought his son, Anthony Kassabli, she and others began to undergo maltreatment.
The victim claimed that they were subjected to sexual exploitation and abuse. She said they have been made to sleep with customers of the restaurant.
The victim alleged that she was forced to have sex with an Indian man in a hotel.
Testimony provided by another victim identified as Milaka Budhi to police investigators, revealed that she arrived in Liberia on March 16, 2013 through her friend Haba Kou Fawaz.
Budhi said she began working as a bar tender at the Moulin Rouge Restaurant where Haba Kou Fawaz was serving as Manager of the business. She further told police investigators that her plane ticket was purchased by suspect Edmund Kassabli.
She disclosed that two months later Anthony Kassabli took over the business as the new manager.
"During his time, he forced her and some of her friends to have sexual intercourse with customers who usually gave Anthony Kassabli money for their sexual services," the victim explained.
The victim further said suspect Anthony Kassabli used Immigration officers to take away her passport as well as her friends' and refused to pay her monthly salary.
She told the police that when she asked Anthony Kassabli for her salary in the amount of US$1,300.00 on Tuesday, July 3, 2013, he refused and ordered the security officers to lock the fence thereby preventing her from going out.
The suspects have been charged by the police and sent to court for prosecution.
