Egypt: Gunmen Attack Security Checkpoints in Sinai

Gunmen attacked two security checkpoints near North Sinai's Arish International Airport and Rafah on Wednesday, security sources said.

The sources reported that there had been no injuries, the assailants escaped right after their attack when chased by the security forces.

Eyewitnesses reported that unidentified masked men in an SUV had opened fire on security checkpoints, using heavy weapons from machineguns.

Meanwhile, army aircrafts are flying over the region the lawless peninsula to monitor armed groups and sweep the area
