The New York Times newspaper said the gap between the current Egyptian regime and supporters of deposed president Mohamed Morsi is widening making it difficult to reach a solution to the political crisis for the time being.

The paper quoted Osama Morsi, the son of the ousted president, as saying that he could not communicate with his father since July 3.

It quoted a mediator between the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group and the regime as saying that the MB insists on bringing Morsi back to power, while the army insists on talking only about the future considering Morsi's chapter as something that has been closed.
