The Nairobi All Share firmed 0.22% to close at 123.70. The Nairobi NSE20 firmed 7.37 points to close at 4807.53. Equity Turnover was 368.114m.
Agriculture:
Rea Vipingo rallied 5.88% to close at 27.00 and traded 5,100 shares. In Commercial and Services, Safaricom eased 0.68% to close at 7.25 and traded 4.642m shares worth 33.831m. Safaricom is +43.564% in 2013 and was a leader of the market rebound.
Kenya Airways ticked 1.03% higher to close at 9.85 and traded 69,100 shares. Kenya Airways will rally through 10.00 and towards 12.00. The price is in a disequilibrium and volumes on the sell side have thinned out.
Banks:
The News that Nigeria's Guaranty Trust Bank (GT Bank) had reached an agreement to acquire a 70% stake in Kenya's Fina Bank Limited for $100 million is clearly material news and at first glance the price looks very full.
Housing Finance released its First Half Earnings after the market closed yesterday where H1 PBT accelerated +60.5566%, H1 PAT increased +58.611% and H1 EPS expanded +58.525% to 3.44.
Housing Finance also announced it would pay an Interim Dividend of 75 cents a share. Housing Finance rallied +3.85% to close at 27.00 and traded 1.017m shares worth 27.474m.
Housing Finance trades on a yrailing PE of 8.385 and the forward PE looks compelling. Kenya Commercial Bank firmed 0.6% to close at 42.00 and traded 994,100 shares worth 41.764m.
Kenya Commercial Bank is +41.176% in 2013. Equity Bank eased 0.7407% to close at 33.50 and traded 1.507m shares worth 50.721m. Jubilee Insurance rallied 6.07% to close at 262.00 and was trading shares at Session Highs of 265.00 +7.29% at the Finish Line. Jubilee trades on a PE of 7.417.
Industrial and Allied:
KenGen rallied 3.582% to close at 17.35 and traded 1.207m shares worth 20.955m. KenGen was trading at session highs of 17.50 +4.48% for most of the session.
KenGen is +96.045% in 2013. KPLC ticked 0.35% lower to close at 14.40 and traded 500,500 shares. Bamburi Cement was the most actively traded share at the Securities Exchange and firmed 0.945% to close at 214.00 and was trading at 219.00 +3.3% session highs at the finish line.
Bamburi Cement traded 574,700 shares worth 123.443m. Athi Cement eased 0.715% to close at 69.50 and traded 95,900 shares. ARM is +55.133% in 2013, trades on a trailing PE of 27.689 and accelerated H1 PBT +28.00%.
EABL firmed 0.87% to close at 348.00 and traded 23,600 shares. EABL is +31.32% this year. Olympia Capital rallied 9.46% to close at 4.05 on 500 shares. In GEMS Someone was showing 4.96m shares for sale in Home Afrika but some ways above the market. Home Afrika eased 1.1% to close at 22.50 and traded 24,700 shares.
