Photo: Amru Salahuddien/Xinhua Military spokesman Colonel Ahmed Mohamed Ali denied news reports published by Al-Ahram newspaper on Monday 22/7/2013 about detaining former president Mohamed Morsi for 15 days for espionage with foreign sides, based on telephone calls recorded by the Armed Forces.
The spokesman said that the military institution confirms that these reports are incorrect and bare of truth. They are aimed at stirring confusion and agitating the public opinion for certain political trends to achieve their suspicious purposes.
He added that the Armed Forces adopt the approach of transparency with the public opinion. So the military institution will never hesitate to announce such information to the public if they take place.
