Uganda: Judge Orders Police Off Lukwago

opinion

The tribunal set up to hear complaints of abuse of office, incompetence and misconduct and misbehaviour against Lukwago, has convened to hear his side but Lukwago is not anywhere in the room. Lukwago's lawyers led by Medard Sseggona inform the tribunal that their client who was ready to come was intercepted at his Wakaliga residence in Lubaga division by police who wanted to bring him in a police vehicle, an act he and his supporters refused.

Bamugemereire finally intervenes and sends her team, together with some of Lukwago's lawyers: Sseggona and Abdu Katuntu to bring the lord mayor. After four hours of haggling, his entourage, consisting of some opposition MPs Betty Nambooze (Mukono municipality), Muwanga Kivumbi (Butambala) and Ken Lukyamuzi (Lubaga South) enter Metropole hotel, where the hearing takes place.
