Kenya: Sh3 Billion Fertiliser Arrives At Mombasa Port

A Sh3billion fertiliser consignment for small scale tea farmers has arrived at the Mombasa port from Romania. The 64,000 metric tonnes of chemically compounded fertiliser will be sold to more than 560,000 farmers on credit in the next two weeks.

A Romanian manufacturer was given the tender to supply the Speaking during the offloading of the first batch of 32,166 metric tones, the managing director of Chai Trading Company Charles Mbui said the fertiliser will help boost tea production in Kenya.

Mbui said a similar consignment worth Sh2.8 billion arrived in the country in August last year and helped increase tea production by 24 per cent.
