Kenya: Kenolkobil Rises Over Deal With Refinery

The Nairobi All Share eased 0.4535% to close at 122.92.

The Nairobi All Share is +29.58% in 2013 and is 4.661% below its 2013 closing high from May 22.

The Nairobi NSE20 eased 0.12 points to close at 4807.41.

The Nairobi NSE is +16.3077% in 2013 and is 4.45% below its multi-year and 2013 closing high from 2nd April.

The market is now treading water ahead of the first half earnings season.

In Agriculture, Kakuzi traded 200 shares at 84.00 +5.00% and trades on a Trailing PE of 4.34.

In Commercial and Services, Safaricom was the most actively traded share and retreated 1.41% to close at 7.00 and traded 21.684m shares worth 152.729m. Safaricom is +38.613% in 2013.

LongHorn Kenya traded 200 shares all at 9.90 +10.00% and its daily maximum allowable limit.

Kenya Airways eased 0.51% to close at 9.70 and traded 95,700 shares.

Home Afrika corrected 6.745% to close at 21.75 and traded 29,500 shares.

Among Banks, Kenya Commercial Bank closed unchanged at 42.00 and was trading at 42.25 +0.6% at the closing bell. KCB traded 921,700 shares. Kenya Commercial Bank is +41.176% in 2013, sits 1.176% below a record closing high and trades on a trailing PE of 10.219. Kenya Commercial Bank has 230 branches across the EAC and hence KCB is an optimal proxy for accelerating EAC GDP.

Barclays Bank firmed 0.57% to close at 17.65 and traded 652,700 shares. Barclays PLC has received permission from a number of regulators to relinquish ownership of its African operations to Absa in exchange of a 62.3 percent shareholding of South Africa's third-largest lender.

Equity Bank ticked 0.75% lower to close at 33.25 and traded 570,100 shares.

Kenya Re firmed 0.92% to close at 16.50 and traded 936,100 shares.

Olympia Capital was high ticked 8.641% to close at 4.40 and traded 700 shares.

Transcentury eased 5.71% to close at 33.00 and traded 9,300 shares.

In Industrial and Allied, KenolKobil rallied 2.36% to close at 8.65 on the news that KenolKobil has been reinstated in the petroleum products supply chain after reaching an out-of-court settlement with Kenya Petroleum Refineries. KenolKobil traded shares at a session high and its daily limit of 9.25 +9.467%. KenolKobil traded 1.873m shares worth 16.259m. KenolKobil reported a FY Loss after Tax of 6.284b. The settlement with KPRL might well signify a less adversarial approach.

Total Kenya traded 200 shares at 14.85 +1.37%.

Athi Cement eased 2.86% to close at 68.00 and traded 1.356m shares worth 92.231m. ARM is +51.875% in 2013 and reported an H1 PAT acceleration of +28%.

Bamburi Cement closed unchanged at 216.00 and traded 2,300 shares.

EABL ticked 0.57% higher to close at 351.00 and traded 86,800 shares worth 30.547m. EABL is +32.452% in 2013 and recently lifted Prices of its Flagship Tusker Beer Brand.

KenGen eased 3.80% to close at 16.45 and traded 180,000 shares.
