As part of preparatory initiatives in the lead up to the 2014 Special Election, the National Election Commission has intensified the training of many of staffs in different strands of electoral related trainings.
These strands of training are been held locally and internationally with assistance from the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and the United Nation Development Program (UNDP), a NEC release issued in Monrovia yesterday stated.
The Co-Chairman of the NEC, Cllr. Sarah Toe will lead a ten man delegation comprising NEC technicians, two Commissioners and three legislators to observe the Rwanda parliamentary elections and study the electoral administration and management of the Rwanda Elections Commission said the release.
NEC noted that one of its Commissioner, Davidetta Browne-Lansanah, and Public Information Director, Joey Kennedy are undergoing a week-long training in Media, Election and Democracy in Ethiopia under the Building Resources In Democracy, Governance and Elections (BRIDGE) framework.
Commissioners Samuel Joe and Ansumuna F. Kromah are on election observation missions in Togo and Mali respectively.
Meanwhile all NEC magistrates, regional coordinators and Assistant Magistrates will undergo a weeklong training in Report Writing and Financial Reporting from July 29 to August 2, 2013 in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, the release stated.
Additionally, 38 local NEC security and 26 headquarters security will benefit from basic first aid, basic security and fire prevention training.
Currently, four NEC senior staffs are attending four-day training in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County under the National Implementation Modalities (NIM) where they will be drilled through various administrative procedures intended for enhancing the running of government ministries and agencies.
