Liberia: Son Convicted for Killing Father

Jurors of Criminal Court 'A' yesterday emerged with a unanimous verdict convicting one Abdul Fahnbulleh of killing his father Edwin Fahnbulleh in 72nd Boulevard, Paynesville.

On June 3, 2013 Fahnbulleh denied killing his father after his indictment was read to him at the Criminal Court 'A' in Monrovia.

But the trial jurors, through the foreman, said that they "were convinced with the evidence adduced in court by the state to convict Abdul Fahnbulleh of the crime of murder".

They claimed that the state proved the case beyond all reasonable doubts against the defendants.

Defendant Fahnbulleh was in court when the jurors' unanimous guilty verdict was read. Lead defense lawyer Amos Kollie has taken exception to the verdict. He is expected to announce an appeal to the Supreme Court after Judge Blamo Dixon hands down his final judgment.

The state indicted defendant Fahnbulleh in 2012 for killing his father Edwin Fahnbulleh on October 26, 2012 in Paynesville.

According to his two-page indictment, the defendant struck his father on his head with a piece of a two-by-two plant and dumped his body in the Mangrove swamp on 72nd Boulevard in Paynesville.
