Two community projects jointly sponsored by Montserrado County District #8 Representative Acarous M. Gray and the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) have been dedicated.
The projects, valued at US$8,500 include a concrete bridge and a 12- room public latrine in Jorkpen Town and Plunkor community respectively.
Speaking Wednesday in Monrovia at the dedicatory program, Representative Gray said the bridge would link Plunkor and 9th street communities to allow residents have easy access.
Rep. Gray also said the 12-room public latrine would address poor sanitation problems being experienced by residents in the communities.
Gray said based on the critical need of residents in the District, he asked the Liberia Telecommunications Authority to sponsor the two community projects identified by the residents.
The Montserrado County lawmaker noted that due to his request for these projects, LTA provided US$7,500, while the remaining US$1,000 was personally contributed by his office.
The Congress for Democratic Change lawmaker said he remains firm in criticizing the LTA whenever it goes wrong and that praises would be given when it becomes necessary.
"It doesn't matter which political party we come from, what matters is the welfare of the district and its people. When we reach to 2017, we will make decision by; but right now the people's concerns are our first priority," Rep Gray indicated.
In remarks, the chairperson of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority, Angelique Weeks commended Rep. Gray for ensuring a successful completion of the projects.
Madam Weeks said the commitment of Rep Gray in ensuring the completion of the projects demonstrates his love and care for residents in the district. She noted that projects are part of LTA's corporate social responsibility.
Madam Weeks said the LTA remains committed to fulfilling its responsibilities, and urged residents in the two communities to protect the facilities.
