THE Warriors flew out of Harare yesterday for their African Nations Championship tie against Mauritius in Port Louis on Sunday in what will be coach Ian Gorowa's first assignment in charge of the team. Team manager, Patrick Mutesva, said the Warriors were not expecting to encounter a lot of problems against their lowly-ranked hosts. Mutesva said the
Warriors technical team watched their opponents, during the recent Cosafa Castle Cup tournament in Zambia, and were confident of coming out of the Indian Ocean island with a positive result.
The Warriors were expected to arrive last night for the match set for Sunday at the George V stadium. Zifa president Cuthbert Dube footed the costs of the Warriors' trip to Mauritius, as he did for their Cosafa Cup assignment in Zambia, and paid the allowances for the players and their coaching crew as the bankrupt association continued to be kept, just afloat, by their leader.
It also emerged yesterday that the Warriors' preparations for the Cosafa Cup final tie against Zambia were disrupted by players who threatened not to fulfill the game, hours before the contest, because promised allowances and winning bonuses had not been delivered.
