Nigeria: NEMA Tasks Kebbi

Birnin Kebbi — National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has tasked Kebbi State government to enhance the capacity of volunteers in response to disasters at the grass-root.

North-west zonal coordinator, Alhaji Musa Ilallah, who spoke at a one day training for volunteers, called on the participants to get involved in the entire cycle of disaster management, including preparedness, response, prevention/mitigation and recovery/rehabilitation. "The volunteers are to serve as first responders in the event of emergencies and disasters in their respective communities," he said.
