Totota resident, Ms. Mama Flomo, has refuted claims in a local publication reporting that the body of her fiancé Junior Jimmy, who died at JFK hospital after he sustained bullet wounds when some residents rioted with police in Totota on July 11, has been turned over to his family.
My husband's body is still in government's possession at JFK," Ms. Flomo insisted in a telephone interview Wednesday with New Democrat, which broke the story from Totota on Monday.
She also rejected claims in the publication that her husband Jimmy was rioting when police shot him and subsequently died at Phebe hospital.
"Jimmy was not among rioters. He was shot while trying to rescue a baby abandoned in the marketplace adjacent the police depot, scene of the riot. Jimmy died at JFK after he was transferred from Phebe Hospital," she cried.
Meanwhile, Police homicide inspector Daramy said he found multiple body wounds on Junior Jimmy who allegedly died from bullet wounds. But he said there would be a coronary inquest on the body, still at JFK hospital, to ascertain the actual cause of his death.
In a related development, General Town Chief Robert Sulu informed this paper Wednesday that Mrs. Annie Nusahn, head of WIPNET-Bong County branch, is already in Monrovia leading a delegation to meet Ministry of Justice and police authorities on the matter. "We don't know where the story came from that the family has already received the body of Jimmy. That information is totally wrong," Chief Sulu said.
Three persons also sustained bullet wounds during the riot, while a vehicle assigned to the Totota police depot was damaged; private properties with undetermined value were destroyed during indiscriminate arrests in the melee of the riot. Police spokesman Sam Collins has since declined to comment on the matter saying he lacks sufficient information about the incident. Please enable JavaScript to view the comments powered by Disqus.
