Djibouti, China Discuss Energy Co-Operation

Djiboutian Minister of Energy in Charge of Natural Resources Ali Yacoub Mahamoud met with Chinese Ambassador to Djibouti Fu Huaqing Wednesday (July 24th) to discuss co-operation in the energy sector, particularly on geothermal and renewable energy, the Djiboutian Information Agency reported.

Mahamoud emphasised Djibouti's interest in developing geothermal energy capacities with the intention of using 100% renewable energy by 2020. Fu said China remains committed to supporting Djibouti in these efforts for the mutual benefit of both countries. Djibouti has also been working on geothermal co-operation deals with the World Bank, Japan, Turkey and Libya.
