Luanda — The Brazilian pilot, Alex Pires, Rio de Janeiro 200 miles champion, is the highlight among the foreigners who have confirmed participation at the second edition of the International "Ze Du" Car and Motorbike Grand Prix scheduled for August 10-11 in Luanda.
The information was released Wednesday in Luanda during a press conference that served to launch the competition by the deputy chairman of the Angolan Federation of Motorised Sports, Ramiro Barreira, who added another two Portuguese pilots are coming.
The competition will be a close-circuit two-round, 11 and 12 laps race over a distance of 350 kilometres, with the participation of pilots from Luanda, Kwanza Sul, Huambo, Namibe, Benguela and Huíla, besides the two Portuguese.
The official announced that registration for the competition are open as from Wednesday and those interested should visit the headquarters of the federation until the eve of the event that will have about 50 racers.
The source added that the first five placed racers will get prizes ranging from Akz 600,000 to 100,000 (Usd 60,000 to 10,000) and the event will qualify for the national championship.
The pilots Daniel Vidal Júnior and Hélder Coelho "Vuty" won the 2012 edition of the competition that is part of the celebrations of the birthday of the Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, on August 28.
