Uganda: Kinene Wants Active Players

LADY Rugby Cranes' technical bench has asked the governing body URU to organise international friendlies for the team before the World Cup qualifier against South Africa. The game is set for London on September 7.

Assistant Coach Anthony Kinene said that such games will help them address areas where improvement is needed and also enable players know each other better. "We expect a good performance but we need international friendlies to help us fine tune what is lacking," Kinene said.

He however added that they will also organise games against young select boys' teams. "We shall also select young boys to test these girls because we do not intend to fully depend on the union for the friendlies," Kinene added.

The team beat Kenya in the Elgon Cup last month to set up the game against South Africa. The winner will qualify for the 2014 Rugby Women's World Cup to be held in France. Meanwhile, G4S Pirates will participate in the Kenya Masaku 7s due this weekend.
