Kenya: Mombasa Has a Mixologist Champ!

Kevin Mamboleo a 20 years-old, bar attendant at The Lounge Mombasa clinched the top bar attendant at the Master Bar Academy. He was awarded USD1000 and an Ipad, during the just concluded bar workshop at Sarova Whitesands Mombasa.

Kevin who is Mombasa's 2013 champion said, " I thank God for this gift, I will proceed with higher learning to change services at bars as a whole."

The tough competition brought together twenty five bar attendants from different clubs within the city including some from Yellow Ribon,Minalove ,Makaye and il Covo.

Master Bar Academy is a programme of training bar attendants and was founded by Mark Barett-Spirit capacity manager -Africa at Diageo Africa.

So far at least 8000 bar-attendants have been trained as the activity will be headed to Nakuru County next month, MBA is available in three languages and has more than 12 multilingual African trainers.The judges for the event were Spirits manager EABL Victor Rapondo, brand manager Smirnoff Kate Katisya and EABL mixologist Kariuki Mukii.
