26 July 2013
The Somaliland region's Council of Consultation and National Guidance Thursday (July 25th) praised an agreement reached between the two official opposition parties to form a united opposition to President Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo's Kulmiye party.
Leaders of the Justice and Welfare Party (UCID) and Wadani (the Somaliland National Party) signed a ten-point agreement outlining the terms of their political merger Wednesday in Hargeisa.
The council urged the two party leaders to formulate a clear political strategy to ensure Somaliland's progress and prosperity, according to a statement signed by council Chairman Hassan Guure Jama.
