Zambia: Mulongoti Tells Sata Not to Complain About PS

People's Party President Mike Mulongoti says President Michael Sata should not complain about permanent secretaries not performing because he is the one who hired them.

Mulongoti said the permanent secretaries were underperforming because they were not properly scrutinized on appointment.

Mulongoti urged Sata to fire them if he was not happy with their performance.

"Firstly who appointed these permanent secretaries? If they are not performing it could be that they were not properly scrutinized on appointment. So rather than complain he should fire them and ensure that the correct people are hired," Mulongoti said.

"Who is to blame? This is what people talk about when they talk about a professional civil service which standard the PF has failed they have also recruited cadres based on patronage and not a competitive process."

Recently President Michael Sata on creating the position permanent secretary at State House said many PSs had let him down and were underperfoming.
