Egypt: Prosecutor General Refers Two Israeli Mossad Elements, an Egyptian to Trial On Charges of Communication for Israel

The Supreme State Security Prosecution yesterday announced the outcome of interrogations in the espionage case that has been uncovered by the Egyptian general intelligence services some weeks ago.

Two fugitive Israeli Mossad intelligence elements, who are still at large, and an Egyptian defendant who is currently under arrest, have been involved.

The two Israeli Mossad spies and the Egyptian defendant have been referred to the criminal court for trial on charges of communication with Israel.

The Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat ordered on Thursday 25/07/2013 the referral of the three defendants to the criminal court.

The defendants are a 39 year-old Egyptian, who is currently detained, and two Israelis, Benjamin Shaul and David Manier, who are reportedly members of Israel's Mossad intelligence services.

The Egyptian defendant works as a branch director of a Port Said-based navigation services company.

Investigations have revealed that the Egyptian defendant cooperated with Israel since late 2011, providing them with information that "harms national security" in return for money.
