Kenya: Farmers Say No to Factory

The Kenya Tea Development Agency and farmers from Igembe South have asked the Tea Board of Kenya to desist from issuing a factory operation licence to a private developer. The developer wants to establish a factory next to Igembe tea factory.

Speaking in Meru during a field visit to the purple tea leaf farmers in Kiegoi, KTDA regional manager Charles Manegene said the factory was started 3 years ago to reduce the distance covered by farmers travelling to Kiegoi.
