Liberia: Carter Center, MOH to Train Journalists On Mental Health Stigma

The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in collaboration with The Cater Center will tomorrow begin a two-day sensitization training for Liberian journalists on how to report on Mental Health.

According to a news release, the workshop will provide participants the knowledge and regarding mental health and other related illnesses.

The two days workshop is intended to improve the skills of journalists reporting on mental health and at the same time gain knowledge on mental health and mental illness in order to change, attitudes, practices and how to report responsibly on mental health.

The two-day training is part of the activities marking the celebration of World Mental Health day which is expected to be celebrated very soon.

The training aims at reducing stigma associated with mental illness, and to also gather information through evaluation to track progress towards stigma reduction over time.

The two- day event is sponsor by Carter Center mental health program in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
