Nigeria: Why I'm in Politics, By Ekweremadu

30 July 2013

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Monday said his sole reason for joining politics was to address the myriads of problems facing his people, expressing delight that 16 years after, the people have felt his impact tremendously. "The essence of my position is to address the problems of the people I represent. I see myself as a representative of people who have suffered many deprivations over the years, so I understand the problems of our people, that is why I focus on their problems everyday.

"We will continue to provide water, roads, electricity, scholarship and other amenities to the people through the constituency intervention funds. There has been delay in the execution of some projects due to delay in the release of funds but we have sorted it out with the Minister of Finance and I can assure that all the ongoing projects will be completed," he pledged.
