Africa: International Peace-Keeping Training Center to Establish in Addis

Monday saw a signing ceremony that aims to establish international peace keeping training facility in Ethiopia. The signing of the agreement happens among UNDP, Japan Embassy to Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Ministry of Defence Forces and Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

The facility is to be established through UNDP with a financial support of Japanese government amounting 790,000 us dollar.

The facility will be instrumental in offering peace keeping training that considers African peace keeping assignments.

Ahmed Shide, State Minister of Finance and Economic Development, remarked the facility will be useful in creating conducive situation for Ethiopian peace keeping forces that may dispatch in the future.

UNDP says this facility is a token of the UN's support aimed at bolstering African peace keeping mission. Japanese Ambassador Hiroyiki Kishno shared UN's objective of enabling Africa to creating able peace keeping forces.

According to our staff reporter Fasika Asrat, Ethiopian Ministry of Defence Forces facilitates and organizes the process of establishing the peace keeping training facility.
