The Editor-In-Chief of The Informer, Danicius Kaihenneh Sengbeh, on Independence Day (July 26) bided farewell to bachelorhood when he took the hands of charming Jacqueline Siah Phocole as his wife for life.
Sengbeh is also the Assistant Secretary General of the Press Union of Liberia. Several journalists including Morrison O.G. Sayon of the Inquirer, Robert J. Clarke of the United States Embassy and Nathaniel Walker of Media Link were groom's men in the wedding.
Hundreds of people including families and relatives, friends and neighbours, church members and leaders, as well as professional colleagues of the couple, trooped in at the Bardnersville Lutheran Church to grace the festive occasion.
The program was characterized by singing and dancing by parents and friends of the couple, with the University of Liberia Chorus, and the Bardnersville Lutheran Church's English and Dialect choirs blasting the congregation with celebratory selections.
In a his exhortation to a happy-charged congregation and the excited couple, Rev. Peter D. Kpakela, Senior Pastor of the Bardnersville Lutheran Church applauded Danicius and Jackie for taking the bold step to make things right with God. He told them that marriage was a life time journey and advised them to look up to God for direction, and to remain faithful to each others.
Among others, Kpakela noted that he who finds a wife finds a good thing and favour in the Lord, calling on both parents to respect the young couple who are no longer under their controls. He said many marriages of today are broken because of high interferences from parents of the couples--some of whom try to enforce their own decision and opinions.
The Officiating Clergy told the congregation that what God has joined together should not be put asunder by man.
D K Sengbeh and Jackie have known each others for over a decade, and took the decision early this year to become husband and wife. Both parents expressed enthusiasm and vowed to stand by the couples.
"Words are inadequate to express how grateful we are to all of you in here," Mr. Sengbeh told a gathered crowd at the reception. "All of you sitting in here have directly or indirectly made this event of ours a success, and we can only ask God to bless you for this overwhelming support."
Sengbeh said to journey to their wedding had been a long one, but with god above, they made it because both of them were determined and remained committed while preparing for the new stage in their lives.
"Today, we stood before man and God, vowing to love each others. I can assure you, with God above, we will not let you down," the Liberian journalist stated as the reception hall broke into a deafening applause.
