Mogadishu — Residents in Somalia's capital of Mogadishu have called on President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to quit and vacate the power as Mogadishu has been a hotbed for deadly bombings, military style ambushes and targeted assassinations on Monday, Garowe Online reports.
A public opinion poll on Mogadishu security situation by journalists demanded President Mohamud to resign over public outcry that he can't tackle the worsening security situation of Mogadishu alone.
The Poll which was conducted through microphone in Mogadishu mainly targeted ordinary residents, politicians and returnees who were previously displaced by sporadic fighting over the control of Mogadishu.
Khadijo Hussein Ugas, a Mogadishu resident said to the journalists "The recent killings and bombings left a gap for Mogadishu people as a number of journalists, intellectuals, woman activists and important civilians were targeted".
"Government failed at least to carry out inquiries and i call for resignation to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud," she added.
On the other hand, among those polled was Dahir Abdulkadir Iro, former TFG MP who told that Hassan's government seems to have failed to tackle the looming threats of instability in Mogadishu.
Apart from Mogadishu's volatile and poor security situation, the polled people accused the Somali Federal Government of "taking sides" during Lower Shabelle and Kismayo fighting instead of reconciling the opposing sides in Somalia.
