Eritrea: Introduction of Smoke-Free Stove Gains Momentum in Goluj Sub-Zone

Goluj — The NUEW branch in Goluj sub-zone indicated that the introduction of smoke-free stove Adhanet has gained momentum in the locality in line with the growing awareness on the part of women to this end.

Ms. Tsega Gebrehiwet, head of the branch office, pointed out that enhanced efforts were exerted in this regard, and that 5 trainers are expected to train 50 women each focusing on the assembling and handling of the energy-conserving stove.

Among the beneficiaries, Ms. Bahgu Zerom and Ms. Suad Adem disclosed that a number of families have become beneficiaries of the stove following the promotional campaigns conducted thereof, thus giving rise to positive impact in environment and community wellbeing.

Meanwhile, a seminar was conducted in Barentu city with more than 100 health volunteers focusing on malaria, crime prevention, environmental hygiene and other health-related issues.

Speaking at the seminar, Ms. Fatina Ali-Nor, head of social service in the NUEW branch in Gash-Barka, stated that such seminars are vital as regards raising women's all-round awareness, besides improving their socio-economic condition.
