Somalia: Farole Appoints New Fisheries and Anti-Piracy Minister

Puntland regional President Abdirahman Mohamed Farole Monday (July 29th) appointed Abdishakur Mire Adam as the region's minister of ports, transportation, fisheries and anti-piracy, Somalia's Radio Dalsan reported.

Adam, a veteran journalist, has ten years of experience in government service as a deputy minister, and has held cabinet positions since Farole took office in 2009.

Adam's appointment comes after the Puntland regional administration suspended local council elections this month, saying the risk of violence was too great.
