Lagos lawyer Festus Keyamo has alleged some prison officials attempted to sodomize Charles Okah who was detained at the Kuje prisons over alleged terrorism charges.

In a statement yesterday, Keyamo alleged that the prison wardens on July 3 entered Okah's cell and ordered him to pull off his trousers after which they attempted to defile him, adding that his screams for help attracted other inmates.

While describing the events as "very unfortunate, disheartening and totally unacceptable and it shows the despicable level of moral decadence of officers who are paid to", he called for the dismissal of the officers from the Nigerian Prisons Service.

Okah was charged over alleged involvement in the October 1, 2010 bombing at the Eagles Square in Abuja alongside Edmund Ebiware and Obi Nwabueze.

While Okah and Nwabueze were remanded after appealing the charges against them, Ebiware was in January convicted by an Abuja Federal High Court.
