Kenya: 200 Foreigners Charged With Being in Kenya Illegally

More than 200 foreigners, mostly Nigerians were yesterday charged in Nairobi courts with illegally being present in the country. The suspects were arrested in on an going police swoop as security and immigration officials stepped up their bid to re-arrest a Nigerian drug-lord suspected to have sneaked back into the country three weeks ago.

70 of them appeared before Makadara courts while 130 were charged in Milimani courts. Most of the suspects denied the charges and were released on Sh200,000 bail each with a surety that they remain in Kenya pending the hearing of their cases from August 6.

Those who pleaded guilty were fined Sh100,000 each and ordered to be repatriated to their respective countries.
