Liberia: President Sirleaf Donates to Bong Muslims

Liberia President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has made available to the Bong Muslim Association, 350 bags of twenty-five Kilogram bags of rice. The gesture by the President comes as Muslims around across the country observe the Holy Month of Ramadan- a time of spiritual reflection, improvement and increased devotion and worship.

The disclosure was made in Gbarnga by a prominent citizen of the Muslim Community in the county, Ansu Sesay who noted that the Liberian leader has been very receptive to their plights.

According to Mr. Sesay, the rice will be distributed among all mosques across the county for vulnerable Bong County Muslims who, he believed, were facing tough times in their fast and pray. He congratulated imams and the leadership of the Muslim community for their responsible supervisory role in keeping the Ramadan spirit alive.

Mr. Sesay, who contested on the ticket of the ruling Unity Party in the district Number three Representative election in the county, appreciated the Liberian leader for always proving to be a twin mother, despite being a Christian.

He extended thanks and appreciation to the Muslim community on behalf of the president, and called on the rest of his religious faith to continue to pray for peace and tranquility, as they go through their fast and prayer month, after the nation has just celebrated its 166th year of independence. Last year, the Liberian leader made similar donation to the Muslim Community in the county.
