Angola and Portugal United in Improving Angolans' Health

Luanda — The Portuguese Secretary of State for Health, Manuel Teixeira, said on Tuesday in Lisbon that Angola and his country are united to grow together and there is a great opportunity in the health sector.

Speaking to the Angolan delegation during a visit to INFARMED, the Portuguese official said that in the health field, Portugal along the last decade created and built a national service of health with intensive quality, with very skilled professionals.

On his turn, The CEO of INFARMED, Eurico Castro said that the relations with the Angolan authorities regarding the analysis of the quality of drugs imported by Angola have started five years ago and they are excellent, having into the outlined goals by both countries.

He added that Angola often requests the guarantees of the quality of medicines that are made available for the Angolan population.

The INFARMED is working in the area of regulation and it has already created with Angola in 2013 a forum of medicine agencies that gathers institutions of the Portuguese-speaking Countries Community (CPLP).

According to him, the presence of the Angolan minister in Portugal is very important because it strengthens ties as both countries are eternally connected through cultural, technical and scientific ties.

To the official of INFARMED, the counterfeiting is a global phenomenon and Angola is not out of this sore, so the African country often sends medicines to Portugal for analysis of their quality, safety and effectiveness.
