South Africa: Cosatu NW Supports Community of Boshoek in Their Case Against Illegal Evictions

The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the North West province supports the community of Boshoek Plot 99 who were illegally evicted by the Royal Bafokeng Administration.

We are happy that the matter is going to court on the date set by the court to do justice to the matter and that Royal Bafokeng will now know that they are not above the constitution of the Republic of South Africa, as they said that we can go anywhere and they will not be called by any court of in this country.

The community will be taking their case to the North West High court on Thursday 1st August 2013 for the court to intervene on their behalf after they were illegally evicted three weeks ago. Since then the poor farm communities have been staying in small tents with kids at the age of three to eight years and more during this time of the year [winter]

COSATU have called on the Royal Bafokeng Administration to follow the law, but they refused to listen to COSATU.

COSATU believes that they way the eviction was done is illegal and the High Court will defend the poor farm workers.

COSATU will continue to support the workers and the poor when they are attacked by the rich people, including capitalists who are used to destroy our democracy.

We call on all our members at Mafikeng local to be in red to support the community of Boshhoek.

For more information call COSATU NW Provincial Secretary Solly Phetoe 0823044055.
