Angola: Government Aims to Reduce Mortality Rate - Health Official

Luanda — The Secretary of State for Health, Carlos Alberto Masseca, guaranteed that the Angolan Government programme for the sector aims at reducing maternal and infant mortality rate until 2017.

Speaking to Angop, during the launching of routine vaccination campaign dubbed "Pneumo13" in Luanda, Carlos Alberto Masseca highlighted that one of the main causes of children mortality are acute respiratory diseases, meningitis and pneumococcal, among others.

According to the official, Pneumo13 came to fight these diseases caused by Pneumococcal and reduce the children's mortality.

So, the official urged parents to take their children to vaccination posts, so that the minors may grow healthy and contribute to the development of a better Angola.

The Secretary of State guaranteed that logistic conditions and training in the country are guaranteed for the success of the campaign in primary health unit.
