Former Olympic champions Mathew Birir (3,000m SC) and William Tanui (800m) are among the top runners expected to grace the 10th edition of the Ndakaini Half Marathon on September 14.
The two have been invited alongside-- former world 5,000m champion, Benjamin Limo, Johana Birir, former world marathon champion Douglas Wakiihuri, world marathon record holder Patrick Makau, two-time world marathon champion Abel Kirui, world 3,000m record holder, Daniel Komen and former Olympic champion Pamela Jelimo.
UAP head of marketing and distribution, Joseph Kamiri said inviting the stars was in line with the event's 10th anniversary as a tribute to its rising status as training ground for emerging world beaters.
"Our marathon ambassador Abel Kirui and Lucy Kabuu who have won in Ndakaini in the past and are examples of athletic talent that Ndakaini has helped to nurture," added Kamiri.
Winners of the half marathon will pocket Sh150,000 while the winners in the 10km race will go home with Sh10,000. The winner inb the 5km run will pocket Sh5,000.
Kamiri noted that registration for the half marathon has already kicked off and listed the registration centres as all UAP offices across the country and selected Uchumi Supermarkets outlets.
