Tunis — Eight soldiers of the National Army were killed while on patrol, Monday at 06.30 p.m., in an exchange of fire in the region of Ettel at MountChaambi in Kasserine (North westTunisia), the Defence Ministry announced.
Three other soldiers were also wounded in the explosion of a landmine when boarding a vehicle, according to a communiqué of the ministry.
These soldiers were on their way to help their friends, the same source specifies.
Security and military authorities in the region did not provide any details about the events.
Military sources at the Kasserine regional hospital pointed out to TAP news agency correspondent in the region, that "throats of some of the soldiers were cut after being killed."
A three-day national mourning with flags' lowering was decided by the Presidency of the Republic following this terrorist attack.
