Egypt: El-Sisi, Hagel Discuss Security Situation

Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel spoke Tuesday 30/7/2013 over phone with Egyptian Defense Minister Colonel General Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi on latest security developments in Egypt.

Hagel urged el-Sisi that Egyptian security forces should impose restraint in dealing with ongoing protests.

The two defense leaders discussed building on European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton's visit to Egypt and the need for an inclusive reconciliation process, Little briefed.

The Egyptian defense minister reiterated support for the political roadmap outlined by Egypt's interim transitional government, Little added.
