Egypt: Note Against Aljazeera Referred to Appeal Prosecution

The Prosecutor General Hesham Barakat ordered that the complaint against Aljazeera channel be referred to the Cairo Appeal Prosecution for investigations.

This came after the Committee for the Defense of Judges filed a complaint with Barakat accusing Qatari news channel Aljazeera of insulting the judiciary and the judges.

The committee also accused the channel of inciting against judges and the Armed Forces.

It also asked the prosecutor general to take all the necessary legal measures to close the channel in question.

The channel also aired a report, which tackled the investigations held with ousted president Mohamed Morsi and said that the Egyptian judiciary kept silent about the Mubarak regime but quickly arrested Morsi, according to the complaint.
